Canberra - Day 2

On our second day in Canberra we arose bright and early and had a hearty breakfast at The Pancake Parlor. After breakfast we hopped in the car and drove over to the Australian War Memorial where we spent the morning.
We wandered through the Commemorative Courtyard and took in the the Pool of Reflection and the Eternal Flame and the awe inspiring  Hall of Memory which contains the The Tomb of the Unknown Australian Soldier which represents all Australians who have given their lives during wartime. We then climbed the stairs to see the Roll of Honour with over 102,000 names of those soldiers who died in war. Walking beside the Roll of Honour it really strikes you the magnitude of the loss.
Next we headed into the museum spending the majority of our time in the side dedicated to WWII and the Aircraft Hall after briefly checking out the gift shop (where I picked up a copy of Our Girls: Aussie Pinups of the 40's and 50's) we hopped back in the car and drove over to Parliament House.
We parked up on the shore of Lake Burley Griffin and wandered across the lawn to Old Parliament House. After getting a few snapshots we carried on to new Parliament House. By this time it was lunch so we grabbed some lunch at Queen's Terrace Cafe.
After lunch the hubby and I went to check out Questacon while the Hubby's Dad and his friend took a wander through the rose gardens at Old Parliament House.  We met up at the Captain Cook Memorial Jet to grab a few snaps then  hopped back in the car and drove up to Mount Ainslie to get some more pictures of the views of the city before heading home.
